Subject:Let's Play a Game
Time:12:23 am
*attempts to resurrect this community*

Let's play a game. The game is simple. I'll post a word and then the next person (person A) has to post the first word that pops into their mind when they see the word I've posted. Then the next person does the same for the word that person A left and so on and so. Its a common forum game. I think it'd be amusing latin style.

The word is...

Per request of cette_vie, here are pictures of my recently [almost] completed Hogwarts-style scarf in JCL-style colors. (Almost completed, because I have yet to put the tassels on it, through a combination of being tired of working on it, busy with school, lazy, and having transferred interest to my next project, namely socks. :-)

Story of the scarf: I began seeing posts of people's handknit Hogwarts scarfs on various knitting and Potter-related LJ communities some time ago, and liked the pattern. And then it occurred to me...why do Hogwarts colors when it could be JCL colors! So I looked around online for some nice wool in the proper purples and golds, but couldn't find any I liked enough, so I finally ended up settling for acrylics - Red Heart worsted. Easier to wash than wool, anyhow. I had to order the right size of circular knitting needle online, however, as I couldn't find it anywhere in local stores. But it was worth it. Circular knitting is incredibly satisfying - it goes so fast and turns out very neat. I took my knitting with me in August to the Indiana sponsors' meeting for early planning of the 2006 national convention (i.e., we had a tour of the campus buildings we'll use and we tossed around some ideas for favors and the schedule), then a couple of weeks later to the IJCL state board meeting, and entertained all the student officers and sponsors by busily knitting away throughout the whole two days of meetings. Yes, they did suggest knitting one for every single favor bag at national convention. Yes, I laughed. (I mean, it took me months to finish this one scarf...) Anyway, I finally finished the scarf a few weeks ago and took these pictures, but just now got them uploaded. And won't really be finished with the project till I tackle those tassels. I've already worn it to school one day, however, as it's very, very warm and cozy. The logo on it is done in duplicate stitch, my first effort at that stitch, and it didn't turn out as neatly as I hoped, but it looks good if you don't inspect it too closely.

Overall, I was disappointed. I was hoping for more mentioning of the JCL. But the plus is that we DID get mentioned, if only for a little bit. What did you all think?

Subject:What is JCL to You?
Time:10:48 pm
Hey guys!

This is your favorite (or possibly second favorite) NJCL Technology Coordinator with an important question.

I can't say what it's for just yet, but trust me - this is big. Here's your hint: answer the question as if you were talking to an un-initiated adult (like, say, a reporter).

What does the JCL do?

And when I ask that, I mean in general, for the un-initiated public, for you, anything.

Go ahead and comment your answers. I'm trying to get some answers compilied ASAP.

Thanks, guys!

(Whee I need to upload a Latin-related icon . . .)

So, anyhow, like a poll but better:

What is your favorite Latin preposition and why?

Etra bonus points if you include an illustration.

Yes, this has a point, which I shall reveal at some point. Just . . . not now.

Also: This being the first time I am posting here, I shall introduce myself:

Name: Eleanor
Level: Latin 2
State: Wisconsin
School: Not Telling in a public post anywhere
Favorite Moment: Far too many . . . But that Grammar 3rd at Nationals was pretty kick-butt. *rubs it in chai_swiller's face some more*
